Our Director, Dr. Andre Elias, conducted this workshop for music students, initiating them into concepts of rhythm cycles (tala) and the intricate mathematics of rhythm patterns in Hindustani music. He also discussed issues involved in arranging for Hindustani music ensembles. The workshop included live demonstrations and a performance by Arup Guha not able and Anthony Fernandes on drums. The workshop was sponsored by the Chellaram Foundation, and Mrs. Purviz Shroff and the Late Mr. Rusy Shroff.
