Dr. Praveena Thodge conducted this workshop that introduced the scales and rhythms of the Carnatic style of music from southern India to university students. The workshop included video and audio clips of landmark performances and was followed by a unique duet featuring Dr. Thodge on vocals and Chan Pik Sum on the Chinese erhu, which demonstrated the similarities in pentatonic melodies between these two ancient systems of music. The workshop was sponsored by the Chellaram Foundation and Mrs. Purviz Shroff and the Late Mr. Rusy Shroff.
