Teacher, performer and choreographer, Neesha Jhaveri is the co-founder of Sri Shakti Academy, Hong Kong. She has had the privilege of learning under the Late Guru Pandit Hazarilalji and Padmashree Sunayana Hazarilal – both doyens of Jankiprasad Kathak School of Banaras Gharana (a stylistic school of dance). A recipient of the National Scholarship from the Government of India in 1995, she has performed at various dance festivals in India and overseas. As part of the celebrations of 50 years of India’s Independence, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) sponsored her tour to West Africa. She has also performed in the U.S.A. with the ballet ‘Punyatirth Bharat’.
At present, she teaches in Hong Kong to encourage a greater appreciation for Kathak dance, and wishes to continue spreading this beautiful art form to preserve its legacy.
